The park's 50 campsites are situated in the Richey Creek Canyon, offering campers a choice of locations near redwoods along the creekside, or amoung the oaks and mazanita on sunny slopes above the creek. Campsites are also available for groups, hikers, bicyclists, and two sites are wheelchair accessible.
The Native American Plant Garden is located next to the Visitor Center. A guide to plants and their uses is available. This demonstration garden of some plant communities important to the first people of this area. Many of these plants are still used today by the Wappo People.
Day visitors at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park can hike the park's nine miles of trails. Most trails are shaded make the park a perfect place for a summer outing. Bothe is one of only two California States Parks with a public swimming pool. The pool is open in the summer only. The picnic area features approximately 60 picnic tables, as well as a reservable group picnic site.
A horse concession also operates seasonally at the park.
The first church in Napa County was built in 1853 in a small grove of trees in what is now Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. It burned down around the turn of the century. It was named for pioneer preacher, Asa White, who served a congregation of early settlers there. The site is marked by a huge boulder with a commemorative plaque. Nearby is the Pioneer Cementery where many members of pioneer families are buried.
Dogs are permitted on leash in the campground and picnic area only and are not allowed on the trails or at the stream.

This is very close to Calistoga (10-15 minute drive). Small charge to drive into the park. We went for a daytime hike when it was very hot (low-mid 90's), but the Redwood trail is very well shaded..... more
