California’s first millionaire, Sam Brannan, purchased much of the property for his Hot Springs Resort in 1859. The resort was completed in 1862, and visitors to the Sharpsteen Museum will get a view of the city and resort in the diorama. Created using photographs and prints of the city during that period, the diorama took nearly three years to complete

  • Incredible collection of original Disney work and great history of the area. The volunteer docents are truly helpful and the price of the museum makes it all that much more special. (It is free.) Check it out if you are in town. we visit the area every year but didn't know about it before this time. We will be back for sure to learn more about the fascinating history of this historic location.
