Trip Planner: USA / Maine / Mid Coast Maine / Camden / Camden Hills State Park
With wide-open views of Penobscot Bay and surrounding small islands, Camden Hills State Park offers 50 km (30 mi) of hiking trails and 112 camping spots. You can take up horseback riding or mountain biking, or try cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing during the cold months. The varied topography, ranging from dark dense forests to cliff overlooks and rocky shorelines to rolling misty hills, make it a good spot for photography. Within the park, there are also two small mountains to climb--the 240 m (800 ft) high Mount Battie and the 422 m (1,385 ft) high Mount Megunticook. Camden Hills State Park reviews
Beautiful park, great for campers and hikers. Had a late day visit but many people still at park. Some were even grilling food for dinner.

We camped here and visited for 2 days. Great hiking trails and perfect views. Same view is easily seen by driving auto road to the tower with a lot less effort. No real shore accesa here, though there is a rough path down to a very rocky beach. Water and electric at our campsite. Relatively flat, but not 100%. XL site fit our 30 foot bumper pull perfectly. Junior ranger program a hit with my toddlers. Playground is just 2 swing sets.
We stayed two nights and had such a pleasant time. Neighbors were very nice and everyone we met was super nice and polite. Within the park is just a short drive to Mt. Battie and I cannot recommend making the drive for that 360° view. It will not disappoint whether summer or winter!!! Hot showers, clean bathrooms, and quiet accommodations are what you can expect here.
