We are Camden, Maine’s newest yarn shop. Our highest priority is to provide a friendly, communal and helpful atmosphere where knitters of all skill levels can move forward with their knitting.Using our world travel planner, Camden attractions like Cashmere Goat can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.
We feature a large selection of beautiful yarns including those made from traditional wools, alpaca, cashmere, cotton and other interesting blends. We are fortunate to have relationships with local alpaca and cashmere goat farms. We are also excited to carry Swan’s Island yarn and hand woven textiles which are organic and vegetable dyed. Hand dyed and novelty yarns are part of the mix. Needles, buttons and other accessories round out our shop.
We have drop – in classes and knitting groups that enjoy a comfortable space and separate room. Bring your knitting, make new friends and stay awhile.

I’m doing the 2022 Maine Yarn Cruise and rating all the shops. This one is a fave. It’s in a new location, so double check the address if you’ve visited in the past. The new location comes with a bit of parking, which is excellent! The new shop is bright and well lit, with a jaw dropping selection of high end yarn from all over the world. We’ve all seen yarns from Peru and Uruguay of course, but the Cashmere Goat also featured yarns from Italy, the UK, Kathmandu, Norway and Japan (to name a few). The yarns favor a high end market, and have brands and fibers I’ve not seen in my travels (and I’ve hit a LOT of Maine LYS). Moreover, the ladies working there were outgoing and friendly and quick to chat up customers or help with a particular fiber search. I inquired after a specific brand and line and although it wasn’t in stock, they were quick to guide me to something similar. If you love yarn, particularly beautiful, exotic yarn, run to the Cashmere Goat right now! You won’t be sorry!
