Ecola State Park, Cannon Beach

4.8
Stretching 14 km (9 mi) along the Pacific, Ecola State Park features lush forests, open ocean views, wildlife, nature trails, and picnic spots. Hiking through the forest, you'll come across cliff-side viewpoints, offering views of secluded coves, forested promontories, and an abandoned lighthouse. Wear good hiking boots and be ready for deer, elk, eagle, and whale encounters. There may be surfers and beach goers on some of the shores, as well as groups of people gathered to watch marine life that has adapted to living on the rocks in the shallow ocean pools. • Absolutely stunning place to chill. Families with children, and elders and all sorts of people can be seen at the park. Entrance fees are applicable per each vehicle. Just green everywhere with blooming flowers. The park has a breathtaking view of the cannon beach of Portland. It also has a view of some tiny island on which a house/ lighthouse kind of a thing can be spotted. A binocular couldn't hurt. Could have given give stars but the restrooms were a downer. They were way too disgusting and poorly maintained. I felt like taking a shower after using it. It has a strong nose breaking smell. I hope it was not the same everyday.
  • Amazing place with breathtaking scenic beauty. Whale watching season is December and March. The state park lacks signage past the entrance, but keep going and you'll eventually end up at the parking ticket machine ($5 daytime pass). Highly recommended!
