At Cape May County Park & Zoo, 550 animals are cared for in a pristine natural environment. Since its opening in 1978, the zoo has participated in numerous species survival programs. Now it is home to 250 mammals, amphibians, birds, and reptiles, and a breeding ground for snow leopards--large Asian cats with thick fur and paws for walking through snow. The park is known for being particularly tidy and organized. Picnic areas, bike paths, a disk-golf court, and even fishing ponds are available. Just remember, you cannot bring food into the zoo. However, you can purchase it from a cafe at the site, which offers healthy food, fast food, snacks, and beverages. • Good collection of animals, with reasonable size cages. Food choices are iffy. Personally liked the giraffes, lions, leopard, and river otters. For a free zoo, this was a winner.

  • I am a very anti-zoo person because I don't feel that animals should be kept in cages for human enjoyment but your zoo is truly a sanctuary for these animals. I love visiting as often as I can. These animals are very well cared for by the staff at the zoo and it is obvious everyone cares about the animal's well being. These animals are in areas where they are able to move freely and live in an environment reflective of their home in the wild. Thank you for saving these animals and giving them a good quality of life.
  • Went here recently with my bf and had a wonderful time! There was a huge variety of animals. We got to see some cute moments, including a baby lemur hitching a ride on its mom’s back. There was also a wonderful staff member at the giant turtle exhibit (I didn’t catch his name but he had a beard and glasses) who shared some neat turtle facts! The zoo was clean and not crowded at all. It’s free but I’d encourage you to donate if you can!
