  • Places like the Strike Valley Overlook make me want to earn enough money so that I can afford cryogenic freezing. The reason: I would love to visit here again, and again, and again, and again. And most likely, one lifetime is not sufficient for taking in the views from here. The landscape is completely unique, as is the journey out here, whether you arrive coming west or east on the Burr Trail. Given that the Overlook is not by the main highway, you can usually have this place to yourself and the sun. As others have mentioned, bring an ample amount of water. This southern portion of Capital Reef is worth the pilgrimage.
  • Now here is a spot not many people will visit... And miss out big time! Not located on a common thoroughfare to begin with, getting to the overlook involves conquering a rough 3 mile 4 x 4 road and then a semi strenuous hike (at least in summer conditions) but is it ever worth it. The view over the water pocket fold and the spectacular variety of Utah typical geology reimburses for all the bumps one has to conquer, in order to get there.
