Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park is a state park of California, United States, harboring groves of coast redwoods in three separate units along the Van Duzen River. It is located 20 miles (32 km) south of Eureka, California, then another 17 miles (27 km) east of Fortuna on State Route 36. The small park was created by a donation from Owen R. Cheatham, founder of Georgia-Pacific Corporation, who wanted to preserve the stand of redwoods in perpetuity. Originally established in 1943, the park has grown to 430 acres (170 ha). Cheatham Grove , 4 miles (6.4 km) west of the main unit, was added to the park in 1983 due to efforts of the Save the Redwoods League.

  • We stopped here on 8/16 as needed break to driving Rte 36 from Red Bluff. The main park area, had picnic areas, camping sites, swimming in the river and bathrooms with flush toilets. We spent about...  more »
  • Beautiful redwoods and campsites. went first days of September river was low right by the campsite but if you walk past the day use sites water is very high there's even a nice path to go down to the river. even though the weather said it would be 79 it felt more like 85. nights are chilly so dress accordingly. the only down side about Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park is the noise of the cars driving by on the Hwy you can see the cars driving by other than that everything was good they sell campfire wood in the campsite. about 5 min down the road there's a quick market if you need to run for some ice or if you ran out of food or drinks.
  • Beautiful place, helpful staff, great swimming holes! There's a lending library, several hiking trails, clean bathrooms, Jr. Ranger programs, which we loved, pay showers ($.25 per minute), and nice size campsites. There are 2 campsites designated for disabled people close to the bathroom which are larger than most sites. It was very helpful with my mobility issues! We camped on the river side which we enjoyed. The campground loops around and the far side butts up against the hwy which I wouldn't care for. You can reserve sites online. Campsites are $35/night. Great place for family fun of all ages!
