  • If you walk down the Natural Entrance and around the Big Room it’s 2 1/2 miles and 750 feet below the surface. It’s 99% down hill and benches are located here and there all along the walkway. It’s a.....  more »
  • This visitor center is full of great displays and information about the caverns and how they were formed and the history of exploration. Your trip into the caverns will be much richer if you explore....  more »
  • Incredible experience being able to walk into these huge caves for a couple miles underground! Wish that I would have had the time to do the guided tour that goes even deeper into the caves. The self guided tour took about 2 1/2 hours. There is an elevator for those that would rather do the self guided easier trip to the bottom of the main cave and that is only a 1 1/2 hour trip. They also have a kennel available for your dogs, so they can stay cool while you enjoy the caves and they don't have to suffer in a hot car. At dusk you can also watch the bats fly out of the mouth of the cave in a large seated area. Cheers!
  • I love visiting our National Parks! The United States has so many beautiful things to see and do! I am revisiting this park, I was a child then and getting close to senior. The caverns is very large, be prepared for walking in dim light. It is handicapped accessible with some restricted areas due to sloping of footpaths. But you will see lots! There are guided tours with Park Rangers. You can enter the cave from the outside or take the elevator down and go on the marked areas at your own pace. Temperature is 56° and humidity in 90+%. Non-skid soled shoes recommended. For more adventurous people, there are more strenuous tours (call ahead as some are closed). Amazing formations to see! The lighting of the formations are great! 2 gift shops and eating above ground and 1small eating area a small gift shop below. The views above ground are terrific, too!
