Mr. Joe Martin started a Foundation to encourage excellence in craftsmanship with emphasis on metalworking projects at the small end of the size scale. Through the Foundation Joe Martin started the Craftsmanship Museum to make available examples of fine craftsmanship to the public, to bring public attention to the achievements of craftsmen, with the purpose of encouraging a future generation to pursue excellence in craftsmanship. I was very pleased to see that, currently, this is the #1 ranked "thing to do" in Carlsbad. If you're in the area, it's a "MUST." There is something here for everyone, young and old, alike...

The Craftsmanship Museum houses dozens of miniature motors and models lovingly created by hobbyists. Docents can make some of them operate and answer any question you may have; sometimes they came...

The Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad CA is a large repository for miniature mechanical devices. Included in the displays are engines, boats, airplanes, automobiles, dollhouses, and even miniature working tools and machines to build other miniature artifacts. For the mechanically inclined this will be a highlight of your life. It is fascinating.

What a well thought out and detailed Museum honoring the Craftsman and Engineers working in miniature! This spacious space with engineered machines and crafts was amazing. Everything from carousels to airplanes that would fly miniature planes to steam engines and doll houses and dioramas! We saw a workshop in the back corner which unfortunately didn't have anybody working any of the machines available for new projects and new items to be made. For those people who enjoy this type of thing, it is a space to get lost in for 2 to 3 hours and be amazed!
