Stimulate your senses of smell and sight by taking in the colorful and fragrant display of the expansive The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. Hop aboard an antique tractor wagon ride through the 20 hectares (50 acres) of flower fields overlooking the Pacific Ocean and listen to audio commentary on the history of the fields. Afterward, tour the artist gardens to see how flowers can be used as art. The site also includes a 140 sq m (1,500 square ft) greenhouse filled with poinsettia flowers, a cymbidium orchid greenhouse, and rose gardens. Younger children can navigate the sweet-pea maze, explore Santa's playground, or mine for polished gemstones. If you're interested in sustainable agricultural practices, check out the waterwise farming showcase on water awareness and the organic demonstration garden on edible and ornamental plants. Put The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch and other Carlsbad attractions into our Carlsbad itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

A lovely break in the drive is stopping at the flower fields & garden shop. We're in the middle of the CV-19 event so it changes things. Worth stopping. more »

Beautiful to visit when flowers are in bloom. I come every year with a nee friend who has never been there and they always have a beautiful visit. The weather is always perfect and the flowers never let you down. You can even take some home with you when you purchase in the shop. They offer tractor rides as well, for people who have a hard time walking the fields or have kids that love tractors!

It wasn't open. Only the Armstrong nursery was open for business. We were looking for the strawberry shortcake stand which was open last year. But this year , NO LUCK. Don't get me wrong, I've come to venture in the flower fields before. Oh the beauty of it all. You have to come when the fields are in bloom. Take a tour on the wagon or walk on your own. It's amazing. It's awesome. The aroma of the flowers will tickle your nose. The views will be a part of your dreams. Vibrant colors will make you take an extra breath. And hopefully the strawberry shortcake stand will be there next year.
