Cooper's Furnace Day Use Area reviews
Dad gets to pick the hike on Father’s Day and this was a great pick! Beautiful, historic and a good hike! Many different places to hike with many different terrains. Totally worth the trip. more »
It is a nice place by the river. History, picknicking, hiking trails...all in one. There is even a playground for the little ones. Plenty of parking and clean restrooms. more »
Really nice! The area is set up with parking and playground equipment for the children. The area was open there were a few people with campers and outdoors equipment. There were people grilling out as well. The whole scene was out of your favorite outdoor dream. I checked out the furnace. The furnace is huge! They have it fenced off but if you start the coopers trail the fence ends where the trail starts if you wanna get some picks with the furnace up close. I shot a few for you all to enjoy! It’s not accessible threw the inside. There are steel bar doors blocking it. To see the size of how big these structures were is amazing!!I have seen some in Pennsylvania. I think this one is a bit larger than the one I saw. Check it out if you can it’s cool!!
Clean and picturesque. A nice spot for picnics, family time, walking the dog, kite flying, etc. We did a bit of walking and let the kids play at the playground. There was a family having a large get together and cooking on the grill. There is a cool iron works located at the entrance but there is a fence stopping you from walking over to it directly. I took off one star because the place was infested with gnats and the playground equipment was filthy, like it hadn’t been cleaned off since it was built.
