Red Top Mountain State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is located in the northwestern part of the state, on the northwestern edge of metro Atlanta, in southeastern Bartow County near Cartersville. Named for iron-rich Red Top Mountain, the park covers 1,776 acres (6.32 km2) on a peninsula jutting north into Lake Allatoona, formed on the park's north and east sides by the Etowah River arm and on the west by Allatoona Creek arm.See Red Top Mountain State Park and all Cartersville has to offer by arranging your trip with our Cartersville online itinerary builder.
During the 1864 Atlanta Campaign of the American Civil War, the Battle of Allatoona Pass was fought on a battlefield near the park. (The battle of Allatoona Pass National Historical Registry Marker is across Lake Allatoona on the south side, off Allatoona Road, or the Emerson exit off Interstate 75.) The park's main popularity however comes from being near Atlanta, and just off Interstate 75. It is one of the most-visited parks in the state. A modern lodge was constructed in 1985, but closed, along with the restaurant and conference rooms, June 30, 2010, due to statewide budget cuts.

We had the best weekend function. Lots of deer. Cabins are pricey but great. It is very twisty and curvy in the park. Next year reunion already booked.

Great park for beginner hikers or children. There's a small paved loop that would be good for wheelchair users or strollers, but the actual hiking is a little bumpier. Still a very easy hike even for a toddler. Beautiful views from the rocks at the lake. Take a picnic and enjoy the view! Lots of easy parking. $5 entry or free with GA state parks pass.
Wow! Such a Beautiful place can't wait to go back. So peaceful soamy benches to sit on and just take it all in on the trail behind the welcome center. Great play ground for kids too. Clean bathrooms and picnic tables for lunch or dinner. The grounds are beautiful. There is boat rentals and a beach. The pavilions they have for rent at the beach are beautiful! If you need to just get outside this is a great place to go.
