Viento State Park is a state park in north central Hood River County, Oregon, near the city of Hood River. The park, named for the former Viento railroad station located there, is administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department. The park is on the south bank of the Columbia River in the Columbia River Gorge. Interstate 84 and the Union Pacific Railroad pass through the park. It offers a seasonal, full-service campground, access to gorge hiking trails beyond park boundaries, a day-use area and river access for windsurfing and kiteboarding.
The park is in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The name Viento was constructed using letters from the names of Henry Villard of the Northern Pacific Railroad; William Endicott, a Boston banker; and a contractor named Tolman. This Campground is absolute heaven. Yes the freeway is on one side of it and the train traffic on the other. However the short walk to the Columbia River makes it all worth it. Make sure if you stay here to walk down there and check out that gorgeous Beach. Absolutely stunning. The restrooms and showers we're clean as it's Park. And the price was right for $24. The RV sites are large, some are smaller and yes you will have to disengage that there seem to be plenty of large one for our 19 ft travel trailer in big truck. We have Water and Electric but there's no sewer. Restrooms are are short walk away and you where you parked in the campground. The hosts Russ and Paula came quickly to inform us of all the details of the park. We were there on October 31st and now the park will be closed November 1st. I have included some photos of beautiful fall scenes. Again absolutely stunning. Don't Miss!

Nice small state park. Highway and train noise but we knew that and don’t find it bothersome at all. Our dogs enjoyed the site too! We will camp here again.
