Chittenango Falls State Park is a 193-acre (0.78 km2) state park located in Madison County, New York, east of Cazenovia Lake. The park features a 167-foot (51 m) waterfall that cascades over roughly 400-million-year-old bedrock. At the bottom of the falls Chittenango Creek flows underneath a wooden bridge. The park offers a variety of activities including picnic tables with pavilions, a playground, a nature trail, hiking, and fishing.

Approximately 45,000 visitors come to the park each year to engage in a variety of outdoor recreational activities. Although many camping guides still mistakenly list it as a campground, the park's campground was closed in the mid-2000s.

Chittenango Falls State Park is also home to the endemic and endangered Chittenango ovate amber snail (Novisuccinea chittenangoensis).

  • Worth it! Falls is beautiful! Enjoyed our time down at the bottom of the falls since it’s just us! Going back up was challenging because it’s steep but it’s ok!

  • A hidden gem! Chittenango is a little way off the beaten path, but is worth your time! The falls are MUCH bigger than they appear on a brochure or the post cards that gave us the idea to stop by. Hundreds of little stair-steps make the 167-foot waterfall as if you're watching hundreds of little falls cascading down. The quick hike around was enjoyable, with only a short stretch of steep terrain. If you're anywhere near the area, it's definitely worth driving an hour or so out of your way to see it - especially if you enjoy waterfalls or a picnic in a relaxing meadow.
  • Majestic waterfall especially after a day of heavy rain! Not a long walk down to the falls but the rocks are a bit slippery so wear shoes with a good grip. Pictures don’t do justice, just go there and experience it for yourself!!
