Van Riper is an absolutely wonderful State Park!!! It's a bit of a drive, being an hour past Marquette. But it's worth the extra drive. Bathrooms are nice, like most of Michigan's parks, but there a large beach here, so much room, trails, beautiful waterfalls in the area, very peaceful place to stay. Sites are all good size, flat, mostly grassy areas. Great local places to eat. We are at Moose Drop Inn. The owner makes everything from scratch. Make sure you find Grand Falls park. It's referred to as the Grand Canyon of Michigan. Easy trail. Maybe 20-25 nest of the park.

Really nice state park...good swimming. Great place for picnics. Restrooms n changing rooms available...which could use some maintenance and an update. Warrior Island and concession area. It's a good time !
