Admire the open floor plan in Edmondston-Alston House, which is an adaptation of English Regency design. Built by Charles Edmondston in 1820, the house features the family's furniture, silver, and keepsakes displayed as if unmoved from where the former residents casually left them. See an original copy of the Ordinance of Secession, as well as the family portraits. The main rooms house temporary exhibits, which often explore secessionists, slavery, and the American Civil War. Join a 30-minute guided tour of the property, or call in advance to arrange a private tour. If you'd like more time in the historical and luxurious environment, stay in the bed-and-breakfast on the grounds. Our Charleston trip itinerary maker app makes visiting Edmondston-Alston House and other Charleston attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Docents are very knowledgeable and interesting. The home has been well-maintained. The tour was thought- provoking. Enslavement of Africans was addressed with straightforwardness and includex facts regarding the home's history. Very educational. No interior photos were allowed.

Great wine tasting at the house at 5pm. We were able to tour the house on our own and the enjoy 3 wines on the upstairs portico. Lovely views of the water and the wines were excellent. So relaxing, what a fantastic idea.
