  • Truly an excellent place to experience an important part of the American Civil War history! There is a ferry ride from the visitor center to the fort. They have preserved the original walls and canons very well. The rangers do a flag lowering (evening) and raising (morning) ceremony every day, and the visitors can participate. Recommended for both old and young.
  • Great place. Only giving 4 stars because of the revisionist historical spin the rangers try and put on things , even if it completely contradicts the exhibits being shown. This , unfortunately seems to be the pattern while visiting southern historical sites.
