One of the first structures of its kind on Cape Cod, Chatham Lighthouse today hosts a U.S. Coast Guard station and holds a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Constructed originally in 1808, the lighthouse underwent several phases of modification in the following two centuries until being fully automated in 1982. Climb to the top of the lighthouse via the stairs and ladder for a view of the Atlantic. Because this is an active Coast Guard station and working facility, you'll need to check the online schedule to see when the building is open to the public. Very fun tour of this historic lighthouse. You can go to the top or just walk around the grounds, small gift shop as well.

An awesome space to enjoy the sea, and appreciate a history lesson of the United States. There is wheelchair accessible parking conveniently located to the beach and lighthouse viewing. To our experience we could not access the beach via a ramp. There were long steps and no beach sand mats to allow mobility aids to easily go over the sand. It is still a beautiful sight to see. The lighthouse was closed when we visited so we could only appreciate it from outside the gates. It was still wonderful to see!

A great site to vist with access to lighthouse beach. The dunes were beautiful. Great photo opportunity. There is also a CoastGard vessel on site. Bathrooms were available but might be seasonal. There is a 30 minute parking limit.
