#2 of 22 in Outdoors in Chattanooga
Chattanooga Zoo is a small but well-populated zoo with a mixture of exotic and local animals that are divided into six areas. Enter Gombe Forest to see chimpanzees and the African crowned crane. Move through to the Corcovado Jungle for a look at capybaras, jaguars, and the colorful macaws. In the Himalayan Passage, try to find the shy red panda, with its distinctive dark eyes and banded tail. In Walkin' the Tracks, you'll encounter North American animals, while Warner Park Ranch is a haven for domesticated animals. In the Deserts and Forests of the World, you can view meerkats and sloths. • Great place to visit for all ages. Great deal for veterans and their families. I live the fact that they have several cooling exhibits for the summer heat. It's not really big as other zoos, but it is well kept. I, along with my grandkids really enjoyed the petting zoo. I didn't see if they had larger animals like the elephants, rhinos, and hippos. But it was nice and clean. One suggestion is to put another bathroom near the back of the zoo. We had a great and relaxing time!
  • Great little zoo! The setup from one exhibit to the other is well thought out, there's a cute petting area and the staff seem very knowledgeable. There's a cool old carousel and a small burgers a fries restaurant there as well as plenty of little kiosks to get drinks and snacks throughout the zoo. Most areas are stroller accessible as well.
  • We were very happy with this zoo! It's small, but it has so many different animals than what you would see elsewhere. Highly recommend it. All the staff and volunteers were very nice and informative. We look forward to going back again!
  • Great little zoo. It's small bit it's perfect size for toddlers to see the animals without getting overdone. Good admission prices too.
  • I love zoos. This place was nice. The alimals certainly seemed well cared-for and the staff were very friendly. That said, there was nothing special about this place. Nothing stands out, although I distinctly remember a huge parrot that bellowed "HELLO! " when I least expected it. Many of the animals (like that parrot) are rescued or "donated", and the place is clearly providing a valuable service to the cause of conservation. But this is a wonderful place to bring the kids and they will love it. The petting zoo is very nice. And if you're in Chattanooga, it's certainly a nice place to visit and spend an afternoon, or even a whole day.
