Barbara Newton began collecting dragons in the early '70s as a hobby. In 1991 she turned her hobby into a passion and opened the museum and gift shop. Throughout the years, she collected dragons of every type she could get her hands on. This ranged from statues, coins, jewelry, posters, prints, paintings, carvings, tapestries, clothing and anything related to all the types and styles available.Make Dragon Dreams Museum a centerpiece of your Chattanooga vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Chattanooga online vacation planner.
In the last few years of her life, much of her work came to a gradual stop. She passed away in February 2014 and the possibility of watching all of it disappear, became a harsh reality.
On October 1, 2014 the museum and gift shop was acquired by a local area family who have the same passion for dragons as Barabara did. The museum and gift shop are being relocated to another location within Chattanooga, TN and will offer more space to exhibit the collections Barbara was unable to, due to location limitations.
The new owners and patrons are intent on continuing Barbara's work, keeping her passion alive and having a fun and interesting place for people of all ages and cultures to experience dragons.
So please... check in from time to time and see the progress being made and the date when the doors will re-open. And they WILL..!!!
