Commemorating more than 400 years of history, Henricus Historical Park re-creates everyday 17th-century life in the second successful English settlement in North America and in the Virginia Indian site of Arrohateck. Due to its prime location as a military outpost on a bluff overlooking the James River, the site also boasts rich Revolutionary War and Civil War history, which visitors may experience through special events and programs throughout the year.A visit to Henricus Historical Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Chester driving holiday planner to plot your vacation.
Surrounded by the 810 acre Dutch Gap Conservation Area, the living history museum offers exceptional Pre-K-12 and adult education programs, and both indoor and outdoor meeting and special event space. Henricus Historical Park is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization that operates in partnership with the Henricus Foundation and the counties of Chesterfield and Henrico.

My family and I had a great experience here. Everyone is very informative and keeps you wanting to know more interesting detail. I must say every person here gave us a great experience. The person who stood out the best to us was the clothing maker man. He taught me and my family so much, it was a great experience the kids continued to ask us more questions on the way home that we promised to take them to the library to continue to learn more about it. It was a great experience to see this park. Recommend anyone to go, just try to have a listening ear, my wife wished she could of engaged more but our one year old had other plans. Great experience overall.
This is by far the best educational/living history park I've been too. Most living history centers ha e you wonder around aimlessly, and if you think of something to ask a historian, they'll tell you. At Henricus, they tell you were to start and then your sent to next location. At each location a historian tells you the significance of that building/location and what would have occurred. I learned more in that 1 visit than the 4 other historical sites we stopped at combined!
