  • We bought the city pass, it gave us access to almost everything in the museum. We ran short with time and it’s definitely an all day kinda museum but it’s rich in history. Highly recommend.  more »

  • Great place to find out about Chicago history. We arrived too close to closing time, which was our loss as there was so much more to discover. The Chicago fire and sports memorabilia was great, as was inventions from this area. Very interesting place in a multi-level building with an elevator. Great for ages 7 - 107!
  • Sit inside an original subway car, listen to exhibits in an audio tour, or have lunch at the museum's on site cafe (closes 3 p.m.). Check their website for exact hours/days of operation -- they close early on weekends, but I noticed the day I went (Tuesday) they were opened until 9 p.m. It's accessible by bus and is close to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo, Aquarium, Nature Museum (?) and the Lake Front Beach. Close to Lake Shore Drive and less than 1/2 hour from Downtown Chicago including the Magnificent Mile shopping.
