City Winery, Chicago

4.0
#39 of 159 in Nightlife in Chicago
Once a refrigerated food distribution warehouse, City Winery Chicago has transformed a 1911 building into a haven for those who are passionate about wine, music and culinary arts.

Built with re-used material, such as the original wood beams, masonry and brick, this fully functional winery, restaurant and concert venue has become a focal point of West Loop nightlife.

City Winery hosts wine making classes, wine dinners and tastings, intimate music concerts, private events and offers shared plates dining. A patio is open during the summer months.

City Winery Chicago was honored with a 2013 vision award by the Urban Land Institute Chicago, attributed to a unique design and adaptive re-use of the 33,000 square foot, 100-year old building.

City Winery has locations in NYC, Chicago, Nashville, and Atlanta.

  • We went to a comedy show at City Winery and really enjoyed ourselves. The menu had some nice options for food and drink. It's a smaller venue which makes it very comfortable.  more »

  • I've seen three shows at this venue now, and have been become a huge fan! This is a great intimate space with exceptional acoustics. The food, wine list and service are all top notch! Last night was particularly telling of the service. We arrived for a show, and didn't notice that my friend had bought the tickets for the wrong date until we arrived. Other friends were visiting from out of town, and couldn't stay an extra day. The venue had not sold out, and offered to allow us to trade in the tickets. They could have made us buy new tickets, but didn't hesitate to accommodate us. We're already looking at the upcoming events, to find another show we wish to see there. We were already fans, but we are now devoted friends! The only other note I might add, is that if you have discomfort sitting, you might bring a cushion ;-)
  • Went here for the first time today to attend a concert for Mikki Howard which was awesome. Venue was very nice. The food on the other hand wasn't very good and a bit overpriced. I would definitely return for the venue and its concerts but will probably just stick to the drinks for my personal preference.
