Museum of Contemporary Art features 2,700 objects and 3,000 books that represent art from 1945 to the present day. Take a guided tour of this 7,400 sq m (79,000 sq ft) museum, or if you'd rather explore at your own pace, ask at the admissions desk for an audio tour, which is available for most major exhibits. As you delve into the collections, you'll see pieces that represent Pop art, Surrealism, Minimalism, Postmodernism, and conceptual art. The site also offers performances in the 296-seat multipurpose theater. Museum of Contemporary Art reviews
The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is one of the world’s largest contemporary art venues. If you love contemporary art you must visit. The permanent exhibition is challenging yet accessible. There’s a great cafe and the front steps are a great place to chill out. It’s located downtown near Water Tower Place.
Great place to check out especially if you're staying on Michigan Ave. Tucked just off the Magnificent Mile, there are often thought-provoking works here. For art lovers, it's great to pair with the Art Institute for a packed day. There's a restaurant called Marisol which I didn't get a chance to check out but looked great. If you have a Bank of America credit card, I recommend using their museums on us program the first weekend of each month to get free admission.
