United Center, Chicago

#39 of 605 in Things to do in Chicago
Arena / Stadium · Tourist Spot
The largest arena in the country based on its physical size, United Center serves as the home of two of Chicago's most-beloved sports franchises, the National Basketball Association Bulls and the National Hockey League Blackhawks. Take a picture with the Michael Jordan statue on the east side of the arena and with statues of various Blackhawks players around the perimeter of the 89,000 sq m (960,000 sq ft) complex. Beyond basketball and hockey games, the area hosts numerous special events, such as concerts, throughout the year. Be prepared to pay for parking and allow extra time to walk to the arena. If you want to take a cab after an event, try walking away from the complex to flag one down. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Chicago holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the United Center and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • I hadn't been to the United Center in about 20 years, and it is still a great venue for sporting events and for concerts. In those 20 years, they have done some pretty awesome upgrades. The parking is easy and convenient, and I really don't think there is a bad seat in the house. They also have a ton of delicious food options, and the staff is all helpful. The jumbo tron is pretty tremendous and the sound system rocks. If you have a chance to visit for any reason, you definitely should.
  • Wonderful arena. Had great fun visiting. I also saw Justin Timberlake play here in 2018, was amazing. The sound was very good quality. It's a wonderful Sports arena that doubles as an excellent venue for live Music. The venue is very well arranged and impressive to walk around. The refreshment selection is pretty good, despite the expected high prices. Not hugely fond of the surrounding area, but generally a real decent place for the venue alone.
