Arizona Copper Art Museum, Clarkdale
The Copper Art Museum is Arizona's newest art museum which is in perfect unity with the former company-town of Clarkdale, a City Beautiful Movement town founded in 1912. Clarkdale was built by Senator W. A. Clark “America’s Copper King” for the mass-production of industrial copper from 1915 to 1953, which was exported throughout the world. The museum’s collection is the “largest return of copper,” “back” to both Clarkdale and the “Copper State” and showcases what man created with the red-metal while it was away. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Clarkdale holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Arizona Copper Art Museum and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
The Copper Art Museum features exhibits of copper art and collections for study, which were made by coppersmiths, soldier artists and braziers; many of whom were masters in their trade. Artifacts displayed have an emphasis on American and European works-of-art from the 16th - 21st century. The affinities and history of copper is also featured and is very fascinating, bringing forth forgotten stories, legends and mysteries.
Arizona Copper Art Museum Reviews
We were given a recommendation to go here by a local resident in Sedona where we were visiting. And what a treat we had in store. It is a hidden jewel that the owner told us they need not advertise. T... more »
This was a suggested place to visit in one of our brochures. It was definitely the "find" of our whole week trip in Sedona area. There is so much information about copper and artifacts of copper from ... more »
If you love copper or have even just admired a shiny penny, this place is worth a stop. Located in a beautifully restored high school, every room reveals the history, beauty and versatility of this heavenly (literally) metal. The owner gave a brief intro and was great at answering questions we had. The only thing missing was a small gift shop where you could look for books or other items to feed your new passion for copper. There is a beautiful store in Jerome but many people may not have time for the side trip. You will be thrilled.
My husband & I loved this museum. Very interesting & laid out so well. Amazing displays. Well worth the time & money to visit. Reasonable prices. $8 adults, $7 seniors. Not sure child prices.
