Known locally as "Cleveland's Outdoor Museum," Lake View Cemetery houses a memorial dedicated to president James Garfield and an ornate Neoclassical chapel, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A quiet place for a picnic or a stroll, the garden is located in the "Heights" area of Cleveland, notable for offering unobstructed views of Lake Erie. Founded in 1869 and modeled after renowned English and French graveyards of the Victorian era, the cemetery offers a variety of walking, bus, and self-guided tours of its grounds and two notable structures. As you walk through the cemetery, look for the Rockefeller family obelisk, made of the largest piece of granite ever cut for memorialization purposes. One of my very favorite places in Cleveland, Lake View Cemetery is a gem. Yesterday I ate at the picnic table right beside President Garfield's tomb. If you haven't been, it is definitely worth the visit.

Lakeview Cemetery is a quite interesting sight to visit in Cleveland. Despite being a cemetery, if you think there aren't any graveyards there, the place really feels like a park or a hiking trail and is calming too. One thing to note though is that no biking allowed inside the cemetery. Driving is.
