The first plans for the City Greenhouse were presented in 1902. Three years later the first units were completed on a portion of the 270 acres donated to the City by John D. Rockefeller soon to be called Rockefeller and Gordon Parks). So though the Greenhouse was "founded" in 1902, it really was "planted" in 1905.Put Rockefeller Park & Greenhouse at the forefront of your travel plans using our Cleveland trip maker tool.
The Greenhouse was initially used solely for growing the plants used to landscape city parks and gardens. Over the years it has added additions and new garden areas, including a new entrance, central lobby, and a meeting room. So, while city beautification is still one of our goals, the Greenhouse and grounds have evolved and grown into a first-rate botanical facility containing specialty plant collections, seasonal floral displays, and theme gardens.

What a gem!! Totally free to walk around the greenhouse and gardens. Beautiful plants in an conservatory style greenhouse. The staghorn ferns are huge and they have a lovely desert section.
