Rockefeller Park & Greenhouse, Cleveland

#9 of 20 in Parks in Cleveland
The first plans for the City Greenhouse were presented in 1902. Three years later the first units were completed on a portion of the 270 acres donated to the City by John D. Rockefeller soon to be called Rockefeller and Gordon Parks). So though the Greenhouse was "founded" in 1902, it really was "planted" in 1905.

The Greenhouse was initially used solely for growing the plants used to landscape city parks and gardens. Over the years it has added additions and new garden areas, including a new entrance, central lobby, and a meeting room. So, while city beautification is still one of our goals, the Greenhouse and grounds have evolved and grown into a first-rate botanical facility containing specialty plant collections, seasonal floral displays, and theme gardens.

  • I loved it! It was so beautiful even though we had a slow spring; everything was beautiful. My favorite section had multiple varieties of cactus, I also loved their “garden for the blind.”  more »

  • Wow! This place is such a treasure! Nestled in a secluded corner of Cleveland's cultural gardens district, the Rockefeller Greenhouse is a real treasure trove of plant life. Gourgeous interiors inside and out! After you take your time exploring the various room the Greenhouse has to offer you can take a leisurely stroll through the equally well maintained outside gardens and pathways.
  • Great free option for a place to take photos. Beautiful plant life and green house grounds around the area. My only complaint would be regarding a member of the staff who treated us very rudely one afternoon while there, but otherwise a great place to visit and I will certainly be back.
