Buffalo Bill State Park is a public recreation area surrounding the reservoir formed by the Buffalo Bill Dam, an impoundment of the Shoshone River, in Park County, Wyoming. The state park, reservoir and dam were named after William "Buffalo Bill" Cody, who founded the nearby town of Cody and who owned much of the land now occupied by the reservoir and park. The park offers camping, hiking, boating, fishing, and picnicking and is managed by Wyoming Division of State Parks and Historic Sites. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Buffalo Bill State Park and many more Cody attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Cody trip itinerary planning tool.

The Reservoir is a favorite place for daily visits as well as camping for my family. There are many places that don't charge a daily fee as well as spots that do. There are multiple boat launches all around the lake as well as a great deal if space to hike. Check out one of the many campgrounds for a night's stay or many nights stay. Some are located right on the lake while one is located along the river. The northfork campground is by far our favorite. The camp hosts are good people and I love that they have wood there already for fires. We have been lucky enough to spot a great deal of wildlife while camping here including a baby black bear. The camp hosts immediately took care of the situation and everyone enjoyed the incredible sight. I cannot recommend the Buffalo Bill State park enough for anyone that enjoys the outdoors!

Not much shelter from high winds,in which they see a great deal of. Beautiful views to wake up in the morning. Close enough to Yellowstone to make it worth while to stay away from the park and drive over daily
