Escape Game Coeur d'Alene Reviews
We had five people in our group, teens and adults, and did the museum/jewelry heist. It was hard, but we were excited to finish with 52 seconds to spare out of the hour. The staff was great, and we ha... more »
Took the entire family-ages 6-73 and we all had a fabulous time! We have done one in another town and this one was much more entertaining! more »
Unfortunately, this room was sadly disappointing and I apologize now for the length of this review. Upon arrival, my friends and I were excited to do an escape room, as we had enjoyed ones from other locations. After calling to reserve a private room (which, I might add, was not very clear from their website), we had high hopes for the “Museum Heist” room. As the four of us were led into the room, our expectations dropped. Instead of having the “Wow, this is amazing!” feeling when we walked in (as we had with other escape rooms), we had the “Oh, this is it?” thought. The furnishings were very sparse and looked like they were found at a garage sale. The room was smaller than expected (although there was a second closet attached) and as the max number of players was eight, I still try to imagine how they would fit eight people in there. Even with the lack of “wow” factor, we all still had high hopes for this room. After explaining the rules of the game, our game master informed us that she would be staying in the room while we played the game, which was a little odd. At other places, there was either a camera/speaker setup or the game master sat outside the room, sliding hints under the room. This was a BIG factor in the game as the game master kept trying to give us hints near the end of the game even though we didn’t want any help. As the game progressed, we steadily continued to solve the clues and began to ignore the game master sitting in a chair on her phone. When the ten-minute warning was given, the game master began to start helping us even though we didn’t want it as if she started to get annoyed that we were going too slow for her (just so you know, we finished the game only 90 seconds over the time limit.) She even started writing things down on the whiteboard for us! Ugh! When the timer went off, we were so close, my friends and I continued to solve the last clue while the game master acted annoyed at our persistence. (Again, we were only 90 seconds over.) As we walked out the door, one of my friends carried out the case full of the “jewels” as we had seen the previous group done before us. That was quickly vetoed by the game master who informed us that we hadn’t “won” the jewels so we hadn’t “earned” the right to carry them out. She asked if we wanted to take a picture but by this point, we felt so belittled, we didn’t want to. To make a long story somewhat shorter, I implore the owner of this store to PLEASE talk to their employee about this. We all could have looked past the melancholy furnishings if the game master had just stayed out of our game. This has potential to be a really awesome place that I would love to recommend but at the moment, I would not recommend this to anyone. Since I am local, I rather find another place around town to try out. Thank you for your time in reading this extremely long review and I hope this helps both the owner and potential customers.
The service was good, And the staff was very friendly. However, I do NOT recommend doing Wrath of the gods. Unless you are very good at decrypting greek mythology codes. That room was very difficult and the hints that were given were not helpful. And it’s there smallest single room, For the money, I highly recommend the other rooms. Over all exceptional service!
