  • Beautiful place! Went just for the afternoon, it costs $10. We went to fossil beach and had an awesome time. Will definitely be going back. It is a long walk to fossil beach, going down there is easy, coming back up is a challenge if you have a lot of stuff and small kids with you. Beautiful trails.
  • Nice park, but being so close to a large metropolitan area usually means there are a lot of people with less than adequate camping etiquette. Nice people, but not really concerned whether or not they are intruding in your personal space. Campsites tend to be small, are very close to one another and during the summer months are usually full of weekend warriors. Campground A was so crowded and cramped, with people and vehicles that it looked like a camp for refugees. The group that camped across from us were interesting folks. Very nice, but there must have been twelve of them in one campsite and they brought a full size, stainless steel, four burner grill! First time I've ever seen that, but I was especially intrigued at their ability to turn their half ton pickup into a kiddy pool. Yep, they put a couple tarps in the bed and filled it with water. My only complaint, is that instead of parking their four vehicles on their side of the road, they park three feet from my camper. Again, nice folks, but when I camp I prefer a little more solitude. Would have given four stars, but Rangers did nothing to manage the overcrowded sites...which is kinda their job. If you are going to have a rule about how many people can be in a site, then you should be prepared to enforce it or get rid of the rule.
