The entrance building of the museum is the former civil clearance building in Art Deco style from the late 1930s. Behind them are various aircraft and defensive weapons from the post-World War II era of the Air Force and Army as well as the AirForce and Space Command. Also in a hangar exhibits on NORAD, the USA-Canadian early warning system. The centrepiece of the open space is a constellation equipped with radar for monitoring the airspace, which was in use until about 1975. The tours are conducted by dedicated veterans, for example the pilot Mike guided me through the Constellation, who flew it over Iceland for about 10 years. The exhibits are all in perfect state of view.
Small museum, but well done; covers lots of Cold War information; the outside plane exhibits are great! more »
This place is WONDERFUL!!! So much to learn and see. The Docents are all full of knowledge, and many of them have direct connections to the displays. Dick was an awesome guide, he made our tour a fun and educational experience. Would definitely recommend checking this place out. Very well put together museum. 👍
A fantastic tour of not only modern (Korea to today) aircraft, but also information missile detection, nuclear warfare, and the use of space in today's military. The docents are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
