Vista House, Corbett

#1 of 8 in Things to do in Corbett
Vista House at Crown Point is an Oregon State Park, historic building, and famous viewpoint located in the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Friends of Vista House is a non-profit group that works in partnership with Oregon State Parks, and operates a quality gift shop and espresso bar on the building’s lower level, and also provides information to visitors.

The building is much bigger on the inside than it may appear from the outside, and there are three levels: the main floor, or rotunda, where visitors can get interpretive information from FOVH volunteers and park rangers, the upper level balcony where you will experience panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge, unrivaled by any other gorge viewpoint, and the lower level, where visitors will find gorgeous marble bathrooms, a museum and interpretive exhibits, an excellent gift shop offering local and handcrafted goods, as well as souvenir items, and an espresso shop that serves local, sustainable, and high quality beverages.

Vista House was originally built as a rest stop for travelers, and it is also an observatory and a memorial to the pioneers of Oregon. The building is ADA accessible, and is easy to get to from Interstate-84; simply take exit 22 to Corbett. Vista House is an ideal first stop on a trip through the Gorge. Here you can grab a coffee, a souvenir, and a couple maps or brochures, get your perfect Gorge view photo, and then simply continue down the scenic historic highway to pass by dozens of spectacular waterfalls, including the famous Multnomah Falls, located only 8.5 miles past Vista House. Come on out and visit Vista House and the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, we can’t wait to see you!

  • One of the most scenic locations from which to view the Gorge. The history museum inside is worth the trip. So is the view. So is the architecture. Yes, the location is more than worth the time it add...  more »
  • The wind was horrible and it was only 24 degrees, but still a worthwhile place to stop. We had visited several years ago with better weather and explored the inside. What an incredible building.  more »
  • Stunning views! Although it doesn't look like a big building on the outside there is a cafe and gift shop located downstairs. The drive on Hwy 30 was beautiful. It is a great stop when visiting all of the waterfalls just east of it on Hwy 30.
  • Nicest pit stop/bathroom break I’ve ever had. Funny enough, I was asking a local about it and they told me that that nickname for the place was “the $10,000 outhouse”. Beautiful building and I’m glad they preserved it but there’s not much else to it. Great place to stop to stretch your legs if you’re driving along the scenic highway there.
