Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Museum
See the 1875 Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Museum, an example of Gothic Revival architecture in the form of a 46 m (150 ft) tall observational tower. Climb the 220 steps of its winding staircase to get a panoramic view of the Currituck Sound, the ocean, and the historical Corolla Village. Check out the lighthouse-related souvenirs, such as T-shirts, magnets, and ornaments at the museum shop. Keep in mind the lighthouse is closed during times of strong winds and thunderstorms. The site has free parking. Arrange to visit Currituck Beach Lighthouse and Museum and other attractions in Corolla using our Corolla vacation builder site.

A beautiful brick lighthouse that you can tour! They charge $12 to climb to the top. A 220 step spiral staircase with landings every 20 or so steps (handy for climbing breaks) takes you to the top & back. The views from the top are breathtaking! As was the wind the day we visited. 💨 Don't miss the souvenir shop or nearby boat museum (free).

The lighthouse is definitely worth a visit especially if you are staying in town. It is a relatively quick walk or bike ride to the park that the light house is in. It is a bit of a climb to get to the top, but it shouldn't present too much of a difficulty to anyone. There are landings on the way up should you feel the need to rest, and the lower landings have great information about the lighthouse and the system of lighthouses in general. Make sure to check out the gift shop while there.
