HISTORY OF THE HARBOR PLAYHOUSE COMMUNITY THEATREUse our Corpus Christi route planner to add Harbor Playhouse and other attractions to your Corpus Christi vacation plans.
Tracing its history back to 1925, the organization now known as the Harbor Playhouse Company began with a newspaper advertisement for performers interested in being on stage. Producing an average of four plays a year until the Depression, the group reformed in 1935 under the name Little Theatre Corpus Christi. On August 4, 1948, the Little Theatre Corpus Christi was incorporated, and in 1976, the name was officially changed to the Harbor Playhouse Company.
Today, the Harbor Playhouse, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, operates out of a space in the Bayfront Plaza, which includes a proscenium theatre that seats 454 and a studio theatre which can hold up to 150. Annually, more than 250 volunteers are actors, technicians, and support staff. Volunteers range in age from 8 to 80 and reflect the cultural diversity of the area. With a diverse schedule of contemporary and classic musicals, non-musicals, and children’s plays, Harbor Playhouse truly presents exceptional works of art by the community for the community. To foster learning, excellence and pride among volunteers and audiences, the highest artistic standards are always maintained in productions.
We are proud to be a part of the artistic heritage of the Coastal Bend, and as we look to our future, we know that we must depend on the support of our community in order to remain an integral part of the arts in South Texas.

A superb cast recreating some stock roles for a sold out but small side stage venue. Great voices and timing of laugh lines. more »

I decided thus year to get two season passes and I am so glad I did. I am grateful that we have this theater in our community. The last play I saw was Mama Mia and they teamed up with TAMU. I thought it was a great performance with such great energy. Some people go casual but we like to dress up and make it an evening.

Great Venue! There is no bad seat in the house. Nice concession too. Went to see Mama Mia. Combined local artists with Texas A&M students.
