Such a great place to wonder around in nature and have an educational experience all in one. The people who manage this land put their everything into making this such a great park. There are a handful of trails within the park that take you through individually managed tracts of land that teach you about different management styles, as well as the many different forest types represented throughout Oregon. Many of the trails include interpretive materials to teach you all about what you're seeing and why it's so special. Once you've explored the family friendly area within the park, you've also got access to all of the other trails in the McDonald forest. If you're in central Willamette valley and are looking for a hike, this is the place to do it!
Great place for a quick hike with good variety. Trails range from easy to moderate and have something for everyone. Off leash dog friendly too. Highly recommend for casual nature walker to intermediate hiker, depending on trails taken. Tip: pick up a map from local bike shop to get a terrific picture of all of the trails - bike, people or horse. Smaller trailhead maps are sometimes available, but the locals know where to go and these maps help everyone else.
