WE WELCOME YOU TO COME SEE FOR YOURSELF

Just outside of Coudersport, Pennsylvania you’ll find star-spangled Cherry Springs State Park, consistently rated one of the 7 best places on the planet for stargazing. On a clear night, up to 30,000 stars fill the sky, and lucky guests may also glimpse Asteroids, Venus – the evening star, Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights), Omega Nebula, Zodiacal Light, Meteor Showers, Lunar Viewing and the Milky Way, and other celestial bodies. Cherry Springs calls to everyone from amateur stargazers to professional astronomy students, as well as those who have heard the stories of the “old-time sky” (before the age of light pollution) from their grandparents.

  • The Dark Sky Park is so much fun! It's deceptively simple - it's a big field, has a few benches, plenty of glow in the dark markers on anything you could possibly trip over, and even a collection of rubber bands and red plastic to put over any flashlights or phone lights. A massive embankment hides car headlights in the parking lot from your spot in the field.
  • As an avid lover of the night sky the cherry springs state park was one of the most beautiful and cherished experiences of my life. The first night was disappointing as it was rainy and nothing could be seen. However the second night was clear and the sky was spectacular. The milky way filled over half of the sky and I felt as if I was looking into a Hubble image. The camp ground are clean and quite flat. But the view is best from the adjoining camp ground. I would recommend reaching there during the day time as you can hardly see anything at night. The camp shop has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
