Wyman Museum is the result of years of collecting beginning in 1949 when Lou wyman discovered an abandoned 1932 Lincoln automobile in Elk Springs, Colorado, while he was filling water barrels to take to his sheep herders. He paid $15.00 for it and has been collecting ever since. He has gathered an absolutely unique collection from throughout the west and beyond. His assortment of items gives museum guests an experience spanning one hundred years of American life, ingenuity and advancement. Lou has brought in several historical building, including a hay barn where visitors can see how hay was stored in the upper reaches of the barn. To the left is a working blacksmith shop from a homestead in Walden, Colorado. The Wyman Museum has something for everybody! Come and explore the Pagoda store, opened by J.W. Hugus, a man who fancied himself as the J.C. Penny of the west. The store is filled with period items as well as a gift shop with local handmade items. It is a step back into the past!

  • As I was leaving Craig heading east on highway 40 I saw the sign for this museum. I'm glad I did! What a great stop on my road trip. The museum houses so many artifacts, I could have spent all day...

  • I normally breeze through museums, but I spent a little more time here. Diverse collection, including military history, local history, and farming history. The huge old tractors are incredible machines. I'm a Jeep fan, so I enjoyed seeing the Jeep Forward Control. Mr. Wyman has a great imagination!
  • If you love a little history and consider yourself a bit of an American Picker, it’s definitely worth a visit to the Wyman Museum. We enjoyed wandering and reading about the history in the area and hearing stories from the caretaker. Wayman’s goal was to have “one of everything” and he’s come pretty close! I loved seeing the funeral basket, the kitchen items, and the school house. My husband loved all of the machinery and vehicles. There is a scavenger hunt for the kids and a very nice Elk named Jr. That was happy to pose for pictures with us! We had fun!
