Known for its deep blue color and clear waters, Crater Lake National Park formed in a collapsed volcano. The lake is more than a protected ecosystem, it is also a sacred place to the Klamath tribe, who researchers think may have witnessed the collapse of the volcano. You'll be able to see another legendary aspect of the lake as well. "Old Man of the Lake," once a tree, now a stump, has bobbed in the lake for centuries. Crater Lake National Park boasts hiking trails and lookout points all around its rim. This was my first time visiting this National Park, and it was absolutely stunning. There are several areas to stop and take pictures, and the views are absolutely wonderful.

Spectacular! At 7am the West & South entrance was open, by 11am, when we arrived at the Park entrance, we were turned away due to snow and ice. So disappointed, we were four miles away from the park..... more

Definitely breathtaking. I highly recommend adding this place to your bucket list. The drive was pretty long but worth it. We took hwy 62, which is the South entrance. Its 20 bucks per car to enter the park. We took our 2 small dogs and they loved the snow. I highly encourage snow boots because you will be sinking into it. There isn't much to do right now because of how much snow there is, but I still recommend going. 👌🏻 They do have a gift shop that is open and offer some food and beverages. Crater lake is one of the most magnificent lakes I've ever been too.

Beautiful national park. Visited the first week of April 2021. I highly recommend visiting around this time of year as the snow paired with the blue water and green trees makes for incredible pictures. Snow shoes would be ideal, but we hiked in high top boots and we were totally fine. We hiked to Watchman overlooking wizard island. Absolutely breathtaking.
