Battery Point Lighthouse was first lit in 1856 by

The first official keeper Theophilis Magruder.

The Crescent City Lighthouse was automated in 1953, and a modern 375mm lens replaced the original fourth-order Fresnel lens. After automation, the Del Norte Historical Society leased the lighthouse. The lighthouse eventually became home to a museum and curators and is open for tours.
For travelers who use our world travel planner, Crescent City holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Battery Point Lighthouse and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.
