The Trailhead was originally founded in 2008 by a group of local parents recognizing the need for a place for young children to learn and creatively play, especially during our long cold winters. We believe children need a place to be physically active while learning about science, art and music collectively.A visit to The Trailhead Children's Museum represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Crested Butte tour itinerary planner to plot your vacation.
Now, The Trailhead is in full-motion, offering weekly programming in science art and music for the families living in and visiting the Gunnison Valley. With many exhibits, including a NEW! garden to grocery exhibit, dig-pit, dark room, pirate ship theater, puppet theater, nursery nook for children under 1, art corner, large play set, magnet table, art table, science station, painting easels, train table, and a wedgit center, we are constantly growing to support our growing popularity.

My girls (2 & 5) had a good time here, but just be aware that the pictures on the google page are old and the new space is not as nice. The camp group that came in seemed to be doing a lot of fun activities, but the drop-in space is small and mostly arts & crafts and a few toys.

Looks nothing like the pictures on the internet. The kids were excited to go and when we got there I felt like I had to Shell out the 40 bucks. No real Lego table. No playhouse. Really just a bunch of disorganized toys in a storage facility. The kids still had fun though.
