Crystal River Archaeological State Park Reviews
This was quite a nice place to view the sunset. The paths were well marked, and it was a great place to just enjoy the quite. We even got to see a pretty cool owl, too. more »
We stumbled across this location by accident while looking for hiking trails. We were there right before sunset. It was an awesome location to watch the sunset. Lots of unique history. My whole... more »
We spent most of the afternoon there, about 3 hours. Very interesting and docent was very helpful and encouraging. We viewed the video to get background information, and dozens of displays and artifacts inside the museum. The view from the biggest mound on the Crystal River had beautiful views, and the shade from the trees and cool breezes were most welcome. A great place to relax, enjoy, and LEARN. Wish the pavement/walk extended all the way to the water and around to the dock. There were a couple places that you had to get your shoes wet to stay on the pavement or walk in water on the grass. Enjoyed the explanations at markers throughout the park which made it easy for us to move and observe at our own pace. Saw lots of families with kids; what a fabulous way to get nature, sunshine, exercise, and EDUCATION on any budget, and not just from a small electronic handheld screen. Highly recemmend!
This was such a great adventure for our family. We were excited to learn more about the people that lived here, but had no idea how cool it could be. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and spent plenty of time explaining everything to us. You should definitely put this on your list if your visiting Crystal River.
