A micro-brewery located in downtown Culpeper, Virginia, Beer Hound Brewery strives to keep beer local by brewing and serving our beer direct to customers at the brewery. Founder and Master Brewer, Kenny Thacker, originally got into brewing beer as a business opportunity with a full-service homebrewing store, the Fermentation Trap. Since that time, he has fallen in love with craft beer and brewing and felt compelled to bring his beers to fellow beer lovers.

In October of 2014, Beer Hound Brewery opened its doors as the first-ever brewery in Culpeper. Local and visiting beer enthusiasts descended upon the new establishment immediately and now the Beer Hound brand is a mainstay of the arts district in Downtown Culpeper.

All of the Beer Hound beers are named after famous hounds in movies and history, with an attempt to link the beer style to the hound. Beer Hound Brewery serves a variety of beer styles fresh daily, so stop by and enjoy a pint!

  • Several good IPA's and a limited food menu. I did like the peanuts that they had available for help yourself. My buddy liked the lager, but I thought it tasted too much like Bud Light.....nice...  more »
  • The staff was very friendly, but the seating options left a little to be desired. The menu items were limited, but priced well for the portion.  more »

  • Beer hound is an amazing spot. The main things I like about it is how friendly the staff is. They allow well behaved dogs and the atmosphere is safe. The owner Shirley couldn’t be more attentive and caring of her guests. The outdoor patio is really nice. Inside you can visit with the regulars who add an extra welcoming feeling to the place and it’s patrons. I highly recommend this place. Whether you are passing through or live in Culpeper this place is a must. My favorite beer is the “Teddy” a smooth and refreshing cream ale. A fun fact is that is that the beers are all named after good dogs, both person to the owners and other famous ones. Enjoy and cheers!
  • Great vibes! Love the building and patio. The beers are pretty good! The milk stout on tap last weekend was not great, it was very dark but watery at the same time. All the others were pretty great though! We'll be back!
