“What is a cameleer?” you may ask. A cameleer is the leader of a camel train. For us, the word “cameleer” evoked a vision of strings of camels trekking along the Silk Road, trading in exotic goods of earlier times. While we don’t trade on camelback, the name “The Cameleer” seemed a natural for our store.Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to The Cameleer by using our Culpeper trip planner.
Our initial selection of aboriginal art and handcraft from Central Australia has expanded over the last 20 years to include products from over 80 countries, showcased in our shop in downtown Culpeper, Virginia, becoming an around-the-world adventure, right at your doorstep!
In response to customer requests, our product selection has expanded beyond Central Australian artifacts to include jewelry, clothing for men, women and children, linens, tableware, housewares, stationary, and anything else that catches our fancy. Our product selection is always changing, as are the countries represented, ranging from Argentina to Zimbabwe.
The Cameleer reviews
This is a very nice store with so many nice things to see. A great place to find a special present. It also has clothes that you don’t see in the department/chain stores. Will definitely shop there..... more »
I LOVE this cute shop, especially the unique clothes! About half my wardrobe is from Cameleer! And I always get compliments on the pieces. Just a little jaunt from Northern Virginia. Have lunch... more »
Very cute shop with exquisite taste. Tips on the pricey end for usually genuine worth quality(not everything is made in china!) Some items are not 100% perfect due to handmade imperfections or maybe even improper craftsmanship, but the girls behind the counter are very sweet. I enjoy the gift wrap option for any purchased gift! Unusual paper and very cutely done. Don't have any personal experience with the clothing department, but friends have adored the stationary items they've received and this place has some pretty cool coffee mugs. The items in this store are unique and vary from children to kitchen, decor to functional, and useful to goofy. Even if you don't buy anything its worth a look around.
Nice collection of unique gifts. Really liked the 3-D cards and New Zealand wool items.
