Hop aboard a coach led by a steam-engine locomotive from 1916, and travel back in time and through the Allegheny Mountains along Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Opt for a three-and-a-half hour scenic tour to learn about the area's history and culture. The stopover in Frostburg leaves time for dining and walking around downtown, and your train ticket also gets you free admission into the Thrasher Carriage Museum. Train buffs will want to watch the crew turn the train's engine on a turntable during the stopover. For a more interactive journey, take a murder-mystery excursion during which you try to solve a crime aboard your train. Be aware: the walk from the train station to Main Street in Frostburg requires a steep climb, either by sidewalk or via 88 steps. I did not travel on the train, but there are real models able to be viewed and some great artwork to view. Trains have a nostalgic place in my heart as they were one of my grandfather's favorite things to discuss. The canal museum on the lower level of the station is definitely worth checking out and provides some great insights into the past with interactive displays, dioramas, video clips with audio and words for hearing impaired, and an abundance of facts and stories allowing you to almost put yourself into the strenuous life of the canal families and the incredible amount of effort it took to create the canal system.

Although the concept of a dinner theater on a train ride is most appealing to me, as you will read in their descriptions of their murder mysteries, it's for adults. In other words, contains vulgarities or inappropriate behavior. So sad that this is what so many people call entertainment these days. Won't be buying tickets for this you can bet. I'm a Christian and hold my standards to a God honoring level. Unfortunately, very few others do the same.. Even those who call themselves christian.
