  • A nice walking trail fully on Trex so easy to navigate and no problems with ticks or getting wet if it has rained. Just a little less than a mile.

  • Big fan of the Freeland Boardwalk Trail! Though I love a good bog boardwalk, this new trail is raised and built with Trex, which I imagine will last longer. I enjoy this trail as it’s a 1/4 mile loop....  more

  • The Beall Trail was an easy leisurely hike. Rolling terrain and beautiful views of the area, leading into a canopy covered trail winding through the woods. I did not stop at the Wildlife Office, but I intend on hitting other trails for further photography and reviews.
  • This is a great wildlife refuge in the most beautiful part of West Virginia. It's recently been expanded with excellent displays depicting the natural and cultural history of Canaan Valley. Stop at the visitor center and ask for a trail map to find out where to hike and explore. The refuge is also adjacent to Canaan Valley State Park which is a privately manager resort with a lodge, golf course, trails, camping, skiing, and more. This area features amazing Balsam Fir, wildflowers, wildlife and clean mountain air
