This Greek Revival Inn, built by Nelson P. Hawks, has been described as an "unsurpassed example of an early stagecoach stop." It was the center of social and political life in the frontier village of Delafield, Wisconsin. Built two years before Wisconsin became a state, Hawks Inn welcomed farmers in search of a homestead, trappers, traders, territorial politicians, and miners in search of a strike in the lead mines of western Wisconsin.A visit to Hawks Inn Historical Society represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Delafield trip itinerary planner to plot your vacation.
Renovated and refurbished as a historic site, Hawks Inn is a Wisconsin Landmark on the National Register of Historic Sites and open for public tours. Modern visitors will find it easy to imagine themselves as pioneer travelers when they step across the threshold of Delafield's historic Hawks Inn.

We went especially to see the Lincoln collection which is only on display until early August--so go now. We do live close and had wanted to go to Hawks Inn, but we just never made it a priority...

Bob Lang recently had his large Lincoln Collection brought to Delafield for display at Hawk's Inn. His collection is said to be the largest in the country - even larger than any museum. Don't miss...

Hawks In is a beautiful place and it is now featuring Bob Lang's collection of Lincoln oil paintings. And paintings from the civil war. They will only be there until August 2019. You really need to go and see them. You'll be amazed, some are just huge. It is an incredible collection. this is a painting that really doesn't have anything to do with civil war, but it is incredible.
