RISE organizations and the Department of Secondary Education have created a unique program to support science standards-based classroom instruction with the intention of strengthening the learning community and getting families involved in outdoor learning. This is an on-going initiative that will be available, free of charge, to all participating students in Palm Beach County. Sandoway House is a proud participant and excited to partner with the Palm Beach County School District on this fun and engaging STEM-based learning activity!

a. Students will be encouraged to visit various RISE organizations to participate in engaging STEM-based learning activities that will focus on specific science standards of the School District of Palm Beach County.

b. Students will utilize a passport booklet (provided by the Department of Secondary Education) that will be stamped at each organization to signify the completion of their learning activity.

c. Students turn in their stamped passport booklet signifying the completion of all designated RISE learning activities to receive a certificate of completion and an embroidered badge from the School District of Palm Beach County officially certifying them as a “Field Research Ranger.”

This NEW program will begin in May , and certificates and badges will be awarded as students complete their RISE adventure. There is no time limit for the certification process, and all K- students in Palm Beach County are encouraged to participate.

  • This is not a place you can spend the day, but if you have a couple of hours, maybe as part of a beach day, the exhibits and displays are interesting. Be sure to review the calendar for animal feeding...  more »

  • Small little 2 story old house that was converted to a sea animal exhibit with plenty to read about and a great feeding show. Good for the kids and family for educational material. The narrator of the feeding show of the nurse sharks made the whole visit worthwhile. He was great. If you have time to wait for the feedings make sure you stay for it. You won't regret it.
  • Wonderful family friendly destination that wasn't overcrowded or over commercial. Take the time to explore what on the surface seems like a small place because thhere are loads of learning opportunities for the young and not so young. We will make this a must stop visit whenever we are in the area. Check times for the shark and ray feeding sessions because the marine biologist who does these goes above and beyond in sharing information and sparking interest to learn more.
