Mount Evans Scenic Byway climbs over 2,130 m (7,000 ft) in 45 km (28 mi) as the highest paved road in North America. Winding through the high plains of Colorado, you'll drive through forested areas of pine and aspen to the summit, at 4,300 m (14,120 ft). Along the way, stop off at Echo Lake, which offers numerous trails for hikers, fishing opportunities, and picnic tables. Watch for mountain goats and bighorn sheep at the top.
